The wines of Piedmont, or Piemonte as the Italians would say, represent some of the finest dollar for dollar wine values in the world. In terms of quality-to-price ratio, no country, not even those of the Southern Hemisphere, present better bang for the buck than these bottlings. Whether white, or especially red, the wines from this region will astonish you—if you’re unfamiliar with them—that you’ve never tasted them before and that they’re traditionally less known than those from Tuscany. You’ll become a fan after this inaugural wine and tasting class. Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Arneis and Cortese are names that may well become part of your lexicon as we taste many of them. Cheers.
