Remembering Bonsai Bistro Dim Sum

Chef Troy will take us on a journey down memory lane to one of our gone, but not forgotten, downtown favorites - Bonsai Bistro. To start the evening, he will show us how to prepare a Korean Gochujang Cucumber Salad. Then, we’ll enjoy a delicious array of Pork Pot Stickers, Lobster Rangoons, Wok Fried Spring Rolls and Ginger Shrimp Dumplings, accompanied with Dashi Steamed Rice. This filling evening will end on a sweet note with Fried Banana Spring Rolls with 5-spice homemade caramel over vanilla bean ice cream…our mouths are already watering. Are you ready to take this journey with Chef Troy?

East Coast Italian

We’re going back to the East Coast with Chef K for a night in the North End to enjoy Italian cuisine! She will start with a traditional Mixed Green Salad with a house-made Balsamic Vinaigrette. Next, we’ll take a bite into the main course featuring Golden Brown Chicken Cutlets baked with Fresh Mozzarella Cheese and topped with a San Marzanno Tomato Sauce, made from scratch and served over fettuccini noodles. Only the best Italian meals are served with a sweet Tiramisu treat before we can call it a night. Chef K will show us how to make this traditional Italian dessert with light layers filled with rich flavors of coffee, cocoa and more.

Flavors of the PNW

The Culinary Stone is excited to welcome Kim Lehr for her first time in our kitchen. Chef Kim will be sharing her 20+ years of knowledge pickling fresh products from around the Pacific Northwest. She will teach us about these favorite local flavors in three unique dishes. Chef Kim will start with a Sweet and Spicy Salmon with spicy huckleberry glaze, crispy rice, pickled reds and cilantro. Next, she’ll show us how to prepare a Wild Mushroom Pappardelle with wild mushroom pesto and lemony arugula salad. The class wouldn’t be complete without something sweet, like Chef Kim’s Salted Caramel Crinkle with spiced apple compote and vanilla bean chantilly.

Handmade Pasta

Roll up your sleeves for another night working with Chef Lesa to learn the tricks and tips of pasta making! It’s a workout you are sure to enjoy, making Tri-Colored Pasta sheets that we’ll cut into a variety of different pasta types. Chef Lesa will show us how to prepare a lovely Pomodoro Sauce to accompany our fresh pasta. But let’s not forget the beautiful Italian Salad to start the evening. Our handmade pasta classes are a favorite, don’t miss your chance to experience all of the fun!

Candle Making Class

We invite you to experience the art of candle making! Local artisan and candlemaker Bungalow Candle Studio will teach us how to pour our own candles using eco-friendly ingredients with 100% soy wax, pure essential oils and non-toxic fragrances. We will each get our pick of spring colors and scents inspired by the Pacific Northwest to create beautiful candles. Light charcuterie cup bites and a glass of wine will be provided to enjoy while candles are curing, as well as lots of fun spring items to shop around the store! Space is limited, so reserve your seat today.

Cooking Wild Series: France

Chef Troy is taking us to France as he continues his Wild Game Series! We will start by creating the rich pastry - Beggars Purse - a puff pastry loaded with sautéed foie gras, wild mushrooms and melted brie. This will be finished with a Tarragon Cream. Then Chef Troy will show us how to make the classic dish, Bourguignon, using venison meat. We will enjoy this over Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. To finish, he will demonstrate delicious Crepes filled with creamy mascarpone, strawberries, huckleberries and finished with a sea salted caramel.

Paint, Sip & Plant
with ID Plant That

We can’t wait for spring to come, so we are going to help give it a little nudge with our next Paint, Sip AND PLANT class! Local plant store ID Plant That will guide us step-by-step for painting our own terracotta pots featuring bright spring colors and designs. Then, we will choose from a variety of botanicals to plant in our new pot to take home and enjoy. All the materials will be provided in class, including 2 glasses of wine and a charcuterie cup to snack on during class. Our instructor will even have a drawing to win something special from her own plant collection! This class will fill up quickly, so don’t wait to reserve your seat.

Shawarma Night

Chef Lesa has been asked to repeat this class, so here it is! To begin the evening, we will enjoy a bright Israeli Cous Cous Salad with a Lemony Dressing. For the main course, Spiced Chicken Shawarma, stacked on a skewer and roasted upright, to be sliced onto warm naan bread. Served with this lovely dish will be Saffron Rice with homemade Hummus and Toum - a delicious garlic sauce.

Kids Cookies
with Chef K

Chef K is looking forward to another day in the kitchen working with all the young chefs! This time our in-house pastry chef will show kiddos how to create cookies for the whole family. They will learn how to make three different types of cookies from scratch: Decorated Sugar Cookies, the always favorite M&M, and divine Double Chocolate. Parents provide the aprons and Chef K will take care of the rest, so you enjoy an afternoon shopping while the kids prepare a sweet treat just for you!
