Tuscany, or Toscana, known perhaps best for Chianti—both affordable and some quite expensive—is a region that is justly celebrated and has been for centuries. But the diversity and breadth of different wines coming from this wonderful place will often surprise those unfamiliar with them. Mostly a region known for various spicy and beautifully acidic reds, there are crisp and exciting whites that call Tuscany home, too. This place is beloved the world over, and for good reason, this is not a region that could be called overrated by any wine professional’s estimation. These are some of the finest “food wines” on Earth and pair with a large variety of different fares and cuisines; not to imply that they don’t taste great all by themselves as well—they do. The approachability of these bottlings make them a favorite with sommeliers and novices alike, we can’t wait to offer these items in our Tuscany class and tasting.
